About me
Hi All! My name is Ginger Keen. I am from Hattiesburg, MS but have currently moved to Louisiana. I am divorced and have since become more connected with who I am and have set some new goals for myself. First one being finish this semester and obtaining that Master's degree!!! I am currently enrolled in the alternate route MAT program for teachers and will finish this semester. Further goals include to spend more time doing things I enjoy and pursue what makes me happy. I am in a relationship with an amazing man and am thoroughly enjoying this summer off from teaching!!! This past semester was tough!!!
I teach Physical Science and Biology at Poplarville High School in Poplarville, MS. I obtained my Bachelors of Science at The University of Southern Mississippi in May 2014. Before returning to school, I worked for a local optometrist as an office manager for 10 years and continued to work there while obtaining my undergraduate education.
As a student and teacher, I work with technology within the scope of education frequently. I am experienced with Microsoft Office software programs such as Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. I am also experienced with the Google platform for education. I use Google Classroom for my students to access information and assignments related to their class. Video clips and Kahoot are two applications of technology that I use frequently within class time to drive home concepts and provide reinforcement of learned concepts. I communicate via email with students, parents and colleagues. I find that email works best in reaching out.
As a teacher, I believe that all students have the capability to learn and be successful given the instructional support needed to meet their learning needs. As teachers, even though it's very difficult at times, we should NEVER give up on our students. For some, we are the only positive influence in their lives.
Below are just a few pictures of my loves, my boyfriend, my daughter and my niece.
